Orange County resident Jesse Boniface, age 52, of Middletown, was convicted on Tuesday, Oct. 1, of the rape which occurred in the town of Crawford, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.

As alleged at trial, on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, Boniface engaged in sexual intercourse and oral sex by force with another person.

The attack was reported to the Crawford Police, who, after conducting an investigation, arrested Boniface.

“The vile allegations, as proven at trial, are as despicable of acts as one can imagine,” said Hoovler. “At sentencing, we will seek the maximum sentence permitted, as that is the only appropriate sanction for this defendant’s conduct. I praise the bravery of the victim in this case, who is forced to live every day with the awful consequences of this defendant’s actions."

Boniface's sentence is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, and he faces 25 years in prison.

He was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail following the jury’s verdict.
